Thanks for taking the time to read about the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation, me, and my race!
As many of you may know, my mom lost her fight with lung cancer this past Fall (2015). We are sad that we had to part with her so soon, but we are relieved to know that she is without pain and always with us in spirit.
As a part of keeping her memory alive, I pledged to continue to support the ALCF and lung cancer research for as long as I am able to. I am fortunate enough to be able to run races to benefit these causes. I have been gifted with a strong, healthy set of lungs; why not use them to help someone else who needs it?
I participated in my first ALCF event in September of 2014. I ran the San Francisco Half Marathon with them the following summer, proudly wearing my #beatlungcancer shirt in the company of wonderful family and friends. And now we are here.
Mom always taught us to be kind and help others whenever possible. I may not be a scientist or researcher, but I can run for one day at the Happiest Place on Earth (and one of Mom's favorite places) to aid the fight against lung cancer. I would so appreciate it if you would consider making a donation to the ALCF today. Having watched and experienced my family going through a lung cancer battle together, I wish this terrible disease on no one. We appreciated all of the love and support that our family and friends so generously provided us with. I hope that nobody, whether a lung cancer patient or someone they love, ever has to feel like they are alone in such a scary ordeal. And that is where the ALCF comes in.
Join me. Together, we can keep Cheryl's spirit alive and well every day.
