Welcome to Lifting 4 Lung Cancer's Page

Megan Daley

Thank you for visiting. This cause is very dear to me, as many of you know, and I'll appreciate all the support I can get! Together we can make a difference!

Lung Cancer is one of the most prevalent and most deadly cancers, yet it does not have the awareness or screening available that other cancers do. Why? Because there are not enough survivors to help raise awareness. Because it is known as "the smoker's disease." My father is a great example against the latter and for the former. He never smoked a day in his life and was overall a healthy adult. So we were blindsided when he was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in May 2017. And as is typical with lung cancer, it was not found until it had already spread elsewhere, severely declining his prognosis. He lost the battle, despite treatment, in October 2017, just 5 months later. For those who have lost loved ones to lung cancer, this is an all too familiar story. You see, your lungs do not have a sensory system to warn you of danger until it progresses to the point of spreading elsewhere. Hence why this cancer is so deadly. If it were screened readily and regularly, we could catch it early enough for treatment to be more effective. If you are still reading this, you are already helping my cause. Awareness is the first step. But I refuse to stop there. I want to help raise funds to not only spread awareness further, but promote screening until it is as recommended and available as a mamogram or prostate screen.
